Janet calls Jake her Joe Date and their first outing is a head over heels disaster, but in a funny way. The characters are fleshed out nicely, and it’s interesting to read a romance written from a man’s point of view. However, by the end I was drawn in – and again, perhaps it has more to say about me and my experiences.

You hurt no one. How they reacted matched their make – it all made sense. The main character, Jake, has a best friend, Gerard, who had me chuckling out loud at times. Well, as far as endings go, I was not the least bit disappointed, and without giving even an idea of the ending away, there is a sudden twist, an element that suddenly arrives that makes you say, “Hey wait, I thought for sure I knew how this was gonna turn out I know a live This one was hard for me to get fully into.
It’s interesting how the relationship of these two souls develops into something that is truly remarkable. Both Jake, with his painful, recent, romantic history, and Janet, with her realistically limited expectations for a romantic future, have reasons to be reluctant in exposing their hearts to what seems like a doomed relationship.

It is a classic love story—with some modern twists. Interesting characters, an uncommon twist to a perhaps familiar story-line, and nice Boston setting all add up to another winner for Merullo. There is something to learn from all of them.
